Join the Capital Area Transit System and Build Baton Rouge, as we honor the 101 years of life for Civil Rights Pioneer, Johnnie A. Jones, Sr.  This is a celebration for the storied six-decade career of Mr. Johnnie Jones, who was a civil rights lawyer in Baton Rouge, and played a major role in the country’s first large-scale bus boycott challenging segregation in the 1950s.⠀

We will be hosting a luncheon honoring of Mr. Johnnie Jones, Sr., this Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 12PM – 1:30PM at the Valdry Center for Philanthropy located at Southern University (598 Harding Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70807).  The “Holding on to the Dream!” event will feature a host of speakers as well as the revealing of a building dedication plaque for Mr. Johnnie A. Jones, Sr. that will serve as a constant reminder to Valdry employees, customers, and the Baton Rouge community of the incredible social progress we have made over the years.⠀

We welcome you to attend as we honor Mr. Johnnie Jones’ service to bring justice and equity in the Capital City and the world.
