Build Baton Rouge Opens Search for New CEO to Lead Organization into Its Next Chapter

Baton Rouge, LA – September 30, 2024 – Build Baton Rouge (BBR), the official redevelopment agency for East Baton Rouge Parish, has initiated the search for a new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The incoming CEO will lead BBR’s efforts to drive equitable development and revitalize underinvested areas of the parish.

BBR has played a key role in reshaping the city through strategic urban planning and community development. With the support of other community partners they have deployed over $80 million to create $300 million in projects, 863 affordable housing units delivered, and more than 3,400 jobs created, BBR is now seeking a visionary leader to guide its next phase of growth.

“We are looking for a leader who not only understands urban development but is also committed to advancing equity across our community,” said Rodney Braxton, Board Chair of Build Baton Rouge. “This CEO will be vital in building a legacy of transformative change for Baton Rouge.”

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in community development, urban planning, and real estate, with a focus on ensuring community input informs BBR’s work. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, with a goal to complete the hiring process by December 2024.

Mayor Broome, whose administration has appointed three members to the board, added, “This is a critical moment for Build Baton Rouge and for our community. We are seeking a leader who is not only experienced in urban development but who is deeply committed to investing in our most underserved communities. Improving the quality of life for residents in historically disinvested areas is essential to creating a more equitable Baton Rouge. The next CEO of Build Baton Rouge will play a pivotal role in driving this mission forward, ensuring that every project, every dollar spent, and every partnership formed helps create sustainable, lasting change. I encourage visionary leaders with a passion for community-driven development to step forward and be part of this transformative work.” The city/ parish is the organization’s primary funder at this time.

Success Labs, a management consulting firm specializing in leadership and organizational development, leads the executive search. Candidates can find more details and apply on the BBR website.
